The DREAM Center is a centralized support hub, leveraging partnerships within the campus and outside organizations to ensure that undocumented students and students from mixed-status households receive the comprehensive assistance they need to succeed. Services and resources include educational programs, legal assistance, and community building spaces.
Each year, more undocumented students enroll in college without eligibility for the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, which provides work authorization and protections from deportation. According to the Higher Education Immigration portal, there are 94,030 undocumented students in higher education institutions in the United States, with nearly half (44,326) not eligible for DACA and unable to take advantage of traditional employment opportunities.
The California State University (CSU) system is the second highest higher education institution that enrolls undocumented students every year, and CSUN has the largest number of enrolled undocumented students in the CSU.
The DREAM Center provides opportunities through paid on-campus fellowships and internships that are instrumental to students’ retention and persistence to graduation. These opportunities allow undocumented students to gain vital experience in growing as leaders and professionals that will aid their success post-graduation.

DREAM Center Scholarship Endowment
You can help support the DREAM Center by contributing to scholarships for undocumented students. Undocumented students are limited to being eligible only for California state-based financial aid due to federal regulations in relation to their immigration status. Providing direct scholarship support for undocumented students is critical for their success at CSUN.
Undocumented Student Emergency Fund
The Undocumented Student Emergency Fund aids students in crisis and provides assistance for basic needs such as living expenses, food, and transportation. Undocumented students are eligible only for state-based financial aid through the California Dream Act, which does not always provide financial assistance with student fees. Additionally, the lack of employment opportunities makes it difficult for students to have funds for groceries, gas, and other basic needs.
Support to the Undocumented Student Emergency Fund will help reduce the anxiety and stress of many students and allow them to focus their time and energies on their academic studies.
