The Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry Seminar Series is open to all faculty, students, and the public. External faculty and researchers are invited to CSUN to deliver lectures on a current field or trending topic in chemistry, biochemistry or materials science, typically spending an entire day on campus meeting with our faculty and students. The series is critical to the development of our students because it offers them a chance to learn about cutting-edge research at major research universities like UCLA, USC or Caltech, or the important role science research plays in major companies, like Amgen or Takeda Pharmaceuticals. Even Nobel Prize winners have presented at these seminars. Since most undergraduates and all graduate students in the Department perform research with our faculty, the Seminar Series gives students a broader perspective of research activity outside CSUN, enables them to network with potential Ph.D. professors or employers, and showcases the talents of CSUN research faculty to external institutions. Funds for the program support travel expenses for our visitors. Your support will allow the Department to expand both the number of seminar speakers per semester, and the distance from which we invite speakers, extending it to a national level. Our goal is to boost our students into the best graduate schools and careers in chemistry and biochemistry. We believe strongly our Seminar Series is a big part of that process. Your support of the Seminar Series today elevates our program, faculty, campus and most importantly our students.
