Throughout the College of Health and Human Development, philanthropic contributions provide instructional support and can offset expenses that state funding does not cover. This kind of support goes beyond the classroom, empowering students in learning experiences such as health care and health education services provided to the community; hands on career preparation (such as real-life health and environmental safety simulation labs); student fashion shows; dance concerts; child and adolescent community programs; recreation site visits, and study abroad field trips. Read more about these deep impact learning opportunities below, and click the “Donate” button above to give to one of these funds.
- Student Research Support in Environmental and Occupational Health
The mission of Environmental and Occupational Health Department (EOH) is to distribute and develop the knowledge of the relationship between the environment and human health. Our environment is ever changing and so are toxins, especially in the 21st century. To minimize and combat threats to human health, we must continue our effort in researching potential hazards and risks in the environment. Your gift to the Department of Environmental and Occupational Health will support student projects and help offset the costs of equipment and supplies they must purchase in their research endeavors as they contribute to the body of knowledge in environment and occupational health.
- Professional Development and Research Opportunities for Students in the Department of Health Sciences
The Department of Health Sciences is dedicated to developing students’ critical knowledge and skills required to excel in health promotion, disease prevention, administration and clinical practice. To remove the financial hurdles to our students’ career development, we are raising funds to pay for fees to join professional organizations. Additionally, research plays a pivotal role in advancing our knowledge in health sciences, and it is our mission to train our students to have a research mindset and skills. Your gift to the Department of Health Sciences will help the college acquire research equipment that will support student training and improve human knowledge in health sciences.
- Professional Development Support for Students in the Department of Child and Adolescent Development
Experiences gathered from hands on practices are critical parts of our training at the Department of Child and Adolescent Development. Via guided interaction with children and adolescents, our students can practice applying their knowledge and build confidence at their workplace. The funds will support these students by offsetting the cost of unpaid internships in this field, alleviating their financial concerns and preparing them to become impactful educators. In addition, we are raising funds for projects such as field trips, which give students experience that will serve them when they become teachers, caregivers or administrators. Donations to the Department of Child and Adolescent Development make these experiences possible and strengthen learning engagement for our students.
- The Global Health Immersion Program
Support the Global Health Immersion Program by giving to the Department of Physical Therapy. This program sends physical therapy students to other countries to experience and appreciate global health systems through a social justice lens. Language, lifestyle, culture and health beliefs affect how people access health care and the ways healthcare providers meet their patients’ needs. Donations to the Department of Physical Therapy will help offset the cost of experiences that provide students with cultural competence and best practices in providing physical therapy care.
- Language Speech and Hearing Clinic Resources and Upgrades of Services and Supplies
CSUN’s Language, Speech and Hearing Clinic provides speech therapy and assessments for clients with a myriad of needs, from early intervention, fluency, speech, sound disorders, social skills, and language disorders therapy, to our Life Participation program for Adults with Aphasia (LPAA), aphasia book club, Parkinson’s voice program (PVP), and our Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) clinic. Your donation to this fund will enable the clinic to provide our students with the tools they need to provide outstanding service to our clients and help prepare them to become licensed speech pathologists.
