Centers Institutes and Community Programs

The Mike Curb College at CSUN, through its excellent and nationally-recognized programs, prepares and inspires our diverse and creative students to make a powerful and lasting impact on Los Angeles and beyond as leaders in the arts, media, and communication. As part of this vision, the Curb College features a variety of different Centers, Institutes and Community Programs that strengthen external relationships by creating seamless connections between the community and the campus for mutual benefit.

These enterprises expand upon the leading academic work of the Curb College through numerous external-facing activities and services. Each one projects our reach and impact directly into the community in the furtherance of our academic mission.

Your support of any of these ventures helps to build our capacity for transformation and growth. Many of these endeavors are sustained by fees paid by participants, and the generosity of community members like you in supporting these Centers and Institutes can lessen or even eliminate the costs borne by these members of our community.

Featured Funding Opportunities:

  • Entertainment Industry Institute
EII helps to establish the Mike Curb College of Arts, Media and Communication as a hub for research and creative activity related to the entertainment industry. EII promotes closer ties between the Curb College and the industry by creating and maintaining substantive partnerships, and by helping the industry learn about the College and the excellence of its programs. Gifts to EII allow the College to engage deeply with the entertainment industry to foster the post-graduation success of our students.
  • Music Therapy Wellness Clinic
The Music Therapy Wellness Clinic provides individually designed music activities for children and adults with disabilities and special challenges, including autism, developmental delay, physical, mental and emotional disorders, and learning disabilities. The entire treatment team is dedicated to creating the opportunity for each participant to express their true creative essence while gaining needed skills and enhancing self-esteem. Scholarship gifts to the Clinic increase access to this transformative program for the special population that it serves.
  • Teenage Drama Workshop
TADW is a conservatory style summer program offering teens age 11-18 the opportunity to develop skills in theatre arts. Now in its 65th year of operations, TADW’s goal is to teach not only theatre arts but the importance of ensemble and team work through intensive classes and productions. Scholarship gifts to TADW allow youth from underserved communities to participate in this formative experience.
  • CSUN Youth Orchestra
This Center provides young musicians of varying ages the opportunity to participate in an educational ensemble experience that will allow them to grow as musicians and performers. With three different ensembles, this program fills the gap of high-quality performing ensembles in many schools and convenes instrumentalists from across the San Fernando Valley and beyond. Scholarship gifts to Youth Orchestra enable students who would not otherwise be able to participate to avail themselves of this wonderful opportunity.
  • Art Galleries
Serving the University campus, the San Fernando Valley and the greater Southern California region, the Art Galleries offer an exhibition program that reflects the extraordinary diversity of the art world today and of our many audiences. Help us provide a program of innovative and often provocative exhibitions that utilize regional resources to give fresh perspectives on international art and the broad interrelationships of today’s visual world.
