Beyond the academic rigors of the classroom, the Mike Curb College of Arts, Media, and Communication is home to wide-ranging and excellent public-facing performances, productions, and exhibitions. We seek to ensure that Mike Curb College students have opportunities to participate in first-rate experiences, even on a public university budget. When generous donors like you augment our modest funds for performances, productions and exhibitions, you benefit students and faculty across the College, supporting facilities, equipment, and activities that keep our programs on the cutting edge of industry standard hardware and practice.
The Mike Curb College stages performances, productions and exhibitions across campus throughout the academic year. The Department of Theatre schedules eight live shows annually in three venues calibrated to suit varying production needs, from the main Campus Theatre to the Experimental “black box” Theatre at the Soraya complex. Students in the Department of Music play live concerts at Cypress Hall, Plaza del Sol Performance Hall, and the Great Hall of the Younes and Soraya Nazarian Center for the Performing Arts. The CSUN Art Galleries coordinate shows in four spaces, with the Main Gallery programming innovative large-scale exhibitions and marquee student shows, the West Gallery focused on student clubs and CSUN community exhibitions, the Manzanita Gallery showcasing art by alumni and campus academic partners, and the Soraya Gallery featuring wide-ranging shows that appeal broadly to both campus populations and visiting Soraya audiences. Each of these venues requires resources, maintenance, and equipment updates to maintain quality for performers, exhibitors, and audiences. All benefit greatly from your patronage and support.
