Thank you for a successful CSUN Giving Day! You can still help us create a brighter tomorrow by donating HERE!
Health Equity Research and Education (HERE) Center

You can make a difference with us today!

When it comes to health, health equity means that everyone has a fair and just opportunity to be as healthy as possible while acknowledging and removing the obstacles to health, namely, discrimination, poverty, lack of access to good-paying jobs, etc. Health disparities are a particular type of health difference that is closely linked with social, economic, and/or environmental disadvantage.

We aim to address health disparities at the HERE Center.

The HERE (Health Equity Research and Education) Center is dedicated to improving health among historically marginalized communities through research, education, community-academic partnerships, and advocacy. Our vision is to have individuals in the San Fernando Valley and surrounding communities live healthy lives.

Your contributions and donations will help support our efforts to:

Promote community-academic research collaborations around health equity using interdisciplinary, culturally humble methods.

Provide a focal point for health-related research training, education, and resources for students, faculty, staff, and community members.

Serve as a source of information and dissemination to affected audiences, especially those communities that we serve.

Provide a space for community knowledge and experiences in health equity research and education.

As part of our efforts, we also help transfer students succeed in their time at and beyond CSUN. Transfer students are students who transferred from a community college and make up half of CSUN's student population. The HERE Center’s Badge Project serves as a space for transfer students to network with other transfer students, acquire resources through professional development workshops, and gain research opportunities.

Over the last few years, we’ve collaborated with multiple community partners, mentored over 20 interns from different departments, supported our faculty with manuscript and research grant writing, housed over 90 undergraduate and graduate students trained at HERE Center labs, and supported over 650 transfer students.

Your gift to us will support our efforts even more and help make a difference in the students’ lives and San Fernando Valley!
