University Counseling Services (UCS) provides free, confidential, and accessible mental health services to students, including 24/7 crisis intervention/urgent care. These services are imperative to student success, as “60% of students who leave higher education institutions do so because of emotional stress and mental health” (Hanover Research, 2025).
UCS offers a range of high-quality mental health services that are trauma-informed and culturally responsive, including initial evaluations, short-term counseling and psychotherapy, Wellness Workshops, a variety of groups, psychiatric services, crisis/urgent care services and case management. We provide drop-in urgent care/crisis services Monday through Friday, 8 am – 5 pm. In addition to our clinical services, UCS provides significant outreach programs/workshops to the campus community (e.g., anxiety management, coping/wellness skills, suicide prevention training) and hosts our annual Suicide Prevention Week. UCS also has 3 peer education programs through which students are trained to provide classroom presentations and create annual wellness weeks focused on depression and suicide prevention; body image and disordered eating concerns; and sexual assault prevention.
