Your support will help us provide urgent emergency housing resources to CSUN students experiencing housing insecurity. Across the California State University system, it is estimated that more than 10% of college students are homeless or housing insecure; they might live out of a car, or “couch surf” with friends, or they might sleep in a location not intended for living/safe dwelling.
Our goal is to assist our students to receive the support needed to be successful on their academic journey. By ensuring that students are able to focus on their studies without the heavy burden of worrying about finding a safe space to sleep, we enable our students to achieve their ultimate academic goal – graduation!
CSUN engages multiple strategies to support students’ housing stability needs, including:
- Campus-based temporary emergency housing programs, where students have access to short-term living space at zero cost to them.
- Emergency housing grants, to provide support for housing related expenses, which enables students to remain housed in their current and avoid homelessness.
- Rapid Re-Housing, in partnership with community-based organizations we offer temporary and longer-term housing services and wrap-around support to students experiencing housing insecurity.
CSUN Housing Stability Care Coordinators work directly with students to facilitate access to these critical resources, engaging students using a holistic model tailored to students’ individual needs and with a sharp focus on students’ academic success.
We have seen a continual increase of requests for Housing Stability support by students year after year. For the 2024-2025 academic year, we recorded just under 500 requests for emergency housing support programs and resources- highlighting continued demand for services. With your donation, CSUN will be better positioned to meet this increased demand with innovative, and effective strategies.
