Since 1973, the AS CSUN Children’s Center has supported CSUN students and families by providing high-quality early childhood education in a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment. Serving both the campus and the surrounding community, the Center fosters young children’s physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development while ensuring student parents can pursue their academic and professional goals with confidence. Affordable child care is essential to student success, and our priority is to ensure families know their children are receiving exceptional care and learning experiences.
The Center provides developmentally appropriate, school-readiness programs for children ages 18 months to 5 years, emphasizing hands-on learning and whole-child development. Classrooms are thoughtfully designed with engaging learning areas that encourage curiosity, creativity, and social connection across literacy, math, science, art, music, and sensory exploration.
Our teaching staff holds current California Department of Education permits, and the Center follows best-practice teacher-to-child ratios—1:4 for toddlers and 1:8 for preschoolers—ensuring individualized attention and a supportive learning environment. Nutritious meals are provided at no cost through the California Child and Adult Care Food Program, and children’s progress is supported through research-based assessments and strong family partnerships.
Your generous contribution helps sustain this vital program—expanding access to quality child care, strengthening student success, and nurturing the next generation of learners.
