The CSUN Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry Seminar Program provides an opportunity for our students and faculty to actively engage with faculty from Ph.D.-granting institutions in southern California.
During a visiting seminar speaker’s visit, they meet individually with 4-5 faculty members (in 30-minute time slots) and with undergraduate and graduate students (in 50-minute time slots). These meetings provide students with an opportunity to showcase their ongoing research, and ask speakers about their graduate program, and for Ph.D. application tips and career-track advice. In some cases, our students end up working in a visiting seminar speaker’s research group for their Ph.D. dissertation.
Currently we are limited to inviting speakers from universities local to CSUN, but with your help we can expand this program to speakers from other states as well as increase opportunities for future collaborations and Ph.D opportunities for our students and faculty.
