Health and Human Development Dean's Fund

The Dean’s Fund exists to help promote innovation and provide opportunities for growth depending on the needs of programs, whether due to community, professional, or student need. In times of urgency, it can give faculty and staff greater options to directly empower student success. This fund also helps departments weather crises without losing momentum.

In 2026, our goal for the Dean’s Fund is to support Deep Impact Learning Experiences and Innovative Projects and Technology.

Deep Impact Learning Experiences

When students engage in projects that lead them to discovery, lessons become Deep Impact Learning Experiences. With your generosity, the HHD Dean’s Fund can offset expenses that state funding just doesn’t cover.

Deep Impact Learning Experiences in the College of Health and Human Development include:

  • Dramatic fashion shows that students create and produce
  • Spectacular dance concert performances that include physiological and psychological research taking behind the scenes
  • Leadership and team-building development through recreation
  • Study abroad field trips and professional outreach programs to enhance participating students' world view
  • Hands-on experience in our communities providing health and nutrition education at health fairs and farmers markets
  • Research support for students and faculty for collaborations and conference presentations
  • Support for students to join and participate in professional organizations
  • Upgrades of services, supplies and resources throughout the College

Innovative Projects and Technology

When we put state-of-the-art technology into the hands of our students and keep it up to date, they graduate ready to work in their chosen professions, prepared for action on the first day.

Because state funding does not fully cover our technological growth, we count on your support. Hands-on technology throughout the college empowers students in laboratory work. In any one of our many labs, students may be isolating nutritional components of food to create a new kind of protein bar, tracking the autonomic system responses on dancers and athletes, or working in the Nursing Lab with simulation mannequins that recreate symptoms found in a variety of patients in an emergency room on a given night.

As we stay ahead of technology, we ensure CSUN is a go-to destination for students worldwide.
