The Elementary Education Department (EED) strives to educate, train, and professionally develop creative, responsive, and reflective practitioners for a changing world. Through our Credential and multiple MA Programs, EED produces the largest amount of hired teachers in LAUSD, Reading Specialists across the entire State, and STEM-educated elementary classroom practitioners. In the coming year our plans include:
- Our Third Annual Service Learning trip to Cusco, Peru in June 2026 to teach elementary school students in Cusco and The Sacred Valley;
- Professional Development to train STEM-educated Mentor Teachers and schoolwide participation in an Innovative Observation/Participation (O/P) Partnership Pilot;
- Lesson Plan Podcasts: All adjunct faculty and university supervisors will have access to new podcasts on building elementary lesson plans;
- Enhancing our Social Justice Library with Social Justice Field Support: All student teachers will receive a free copy of “The Young Activist’s Social Justice Dictionary.”
As EED moves into an era of AI-informed clinical practice, we hope you will support and partner with us, our students, and the students they serve!
