Matador Mission: The Last Mile Scholarship

The Matador Mission Scholarships are CSUN’s bold, data-informed response — an investment in students who have the determination to succeed, but face financial constraints at critical junctures in their academic journey. With one of the highest numbers of Pell Grant recipients in the country (#2 in California, #5 among public institutions nationally), CSUN students demonstrate some of the greatest financial need — and the greatest potential impact from donor support.

Matador Mission Scholarships aim to eliminate the financial strain that so often can stand in the way of a college degree. Based on five years of financial aid data, the Matador Mission Scholarships are designed to deliver essential support when students need it most.

The “Last Mile” Scholarship will provide a critical one-time award averaging $1,700 to support students who are on the verge of graduating but face financial obstacles that could derail their progress — ensuring that unexpected hardships don’t become a barrier to earning a degree.
