The Margaret June Brown Scholarship is named in honor of the late Margaret June Brown, the first Director of the Student Services Center/Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) for the College of Health and Human Development. A steadfast champion for equity and student access, her mentorship and advocacy were instrumental in institutionalizing Black Graduation at CSUN. In her legacy, the scholarship uplifts first-generation scholars and recognizes students who exemplify academic excellence, leadership, and service.
Each year, two students are selected for demonstrating resilience, determination, and meaningful advocacy in support of the Black Diaspora while maintaining strong academic achievement. The award honors not only scholastic success, but also the courage and community impact that defined Margaret June Brown’s life and work.
Donor contributions to the Margaret June Brown fund sustain this enduring commitment to mentorship and opportunity. Gifts provide essential scholarship support to student leaders who are creating change on campus and beyond, helping to ease financial barriers that can impede persistence and degree completion. By investing in this fund, donors champion excellence, expand access, and ensure that students are uplifted and empowered.
