Educational Opportunity Program

The Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) at California State University, Northridge designs, administers, and supports programs that deliver access and retention services to CSUN students. The EOP provides services to historically low-income, historically educationally disadvantaged, first-generation college students; a population that not only reflects the diversity of CSUN’s feeder communities but also the diversity of the University itself.

EOP Provides:

  • Assistance in completing Cal State Apply & EOP applications.
  • Transitional Experience programs for first-time freshmen and first-time transfer students. These events give students a head start toward a successful college experience and the opportunity to begin building community with other students.
  • Mentoring
  • Academic support services
  • Holistic advising
  • Student engagement
  • Financial support: EOP Grant (if eligible)

EOP Milt & Debbie Valera Resilient Scholars Program

The Resilient Scholars Program is designed to provide access and support to former foster youth. Its mission is to empower former foster youth through higher education, and it is committed to helping students exiting the foster care system succeed. Upon graduating each student will be equipped with educational and interpersonal skills, helping them to be engaged citizens who go on to lead productive, meaningful lives.

TRIO Student Support Services

The TRIO Student Support Services Program works with first-generation college students from low-income communities and/or students with disabilities. The goal of the program is to increase the retention and graduation rates of the program participants. Program services and activities are specifically designed to help students reach their academic goals, complete their degree, enter their chosen profession and/or continue on to graduate school.

Bridge to the Future Scholars (B2F) Program

The Bridge to the Future (B2F) Scholars Program provides up to 25 Canoga Park High School graduates each year with a tuition-free, four-year education at CSUN. Since 2017, B2F has supported 218 scholars—most of whom are Latinx and first-generation—helping over 100 students graduate by Spring 2025 with an average GPA of 3.26. Scholars engage in extensive community service, completing over 22,000 hours in Canoga Park. Nationally recognized by Excelencia in Education, B2F empowers students through scholarships, mentoring, paid internships, and volunteer service opportunities.

Your support will provide the following resources:

  • Scholarships and Financial Aid: to cover student fees, books, and other educational expenses, making higher education more accessible
  • Enhancing Our Support Structure: for Scholars to receive personalized mentoring, tutoring, resources, and guidance for their academic and personal growth
  • Paid Internships: for Scholars to apply their classroom knowledge in real-world settings, gaining invaluable experience in their respective study areas and building professional networks
  • Support for Dreamers: for immigrant students classified as Dreamers to access work-study opportunities, scholarships, and emergency financial assistance
