The Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) at California State University, Northridge designs, administers, and supports programs that deliver access and retention services to CSUN students. The EOP provides services to historically low-income, historically educationally disadvantaged, first-generation college students; a population that not only reflects the diversity of CSUN’s feeder communities but also the diversity of the University itself.
EOP Provides:
EOP Milt & Debbie Valera Resilient Scholars Program
The Resilient Scholars Program is designed to provide access and support to former foster youth. Its mission is to empower former foster youth through higher education, and it is committed to helping students exiting the foster care system succeed. Upon graduating each student will be equipped with educational and interpersonal skills, helping them to be engaged citizens who go on to lead productive, meaningful lives.
TRIO Student Support Services
The TRIO Student Support Services Program works with first-generation college students from low-income communities and/or students with disabilities. The goal of the program is to increase the retention and graduation rates of the program participants. Program services and activities are specifically designed to help students reach their academic goals, complete their degree, enter their chosen profession and/or continue on to graduate school.
Bridge to the Future Scholars (B2F) Program
A community-college-workforce pipeline, the B2F Program is on its 7th cohort. The Program provides a tuition-free CSUN education for about 25 students from Canoga Park each year. These students are from traditionally underserved communities, and many are the first in their families to attend college. Over 85% of the students are Latinx. Your support will help fund the mentoring, volunteer service activities and internship opportunities for the scholars.
