Below you will find answers to many common questions about CSUN Giving Day.
What is Giving Day?
CSUN's Giving Day is an online fundraising event starting from 8:00 AM on March 5th, 2025 and ending at 8:00 PM on March 6th, 2025 PST. We encourage all members of the Matador community to participate, including students, parents, staff, faculty, alumni, friends and community leaders. The goal is to have as many participants as possible come together to raise financial support for student success.
What are challenge and matching gifts?
Challenge and matching gifts help increase support for student scholarships, special initiatives, and areas of need from groups across campus. Participating in challenge and matching opportunities on Giving Day is a great way to multiply the impact of your support. A complete list of challenges will be on the Challenges page, and active matches and challenges can be viewed on the main landing page and participating group landing page for the specific area.
How can I participate?
Super simple! Give online at givingday.csun.edu and spread the word to family and friends. Then encourage others to make a gift of support! The more people who participate, the greater the funds raised to strengthen the programs you care about.
Encourage others to give by posting, sharing or commenting on your favorite social media platforms with the hashtags #CSUNGivingDay and #BrighterTomorrow and be sure to follow CSUN on Facebook, X or Instagram for the latest updates and challenges.
Are there other ways to give?
By mail: Donations by mail must be received no earlier than March 3, 2025 and no later (or postmarked no later) than March 6, 2025 and must mention Giving Day in the memo or an attached note. Checks can be sent to:
CSUN Foundation
PO Box 847129
Los Angeles, CA 90084-7129
By phone: Donations to Giving Day can be made over the phone between March 3, 2025 and March 6, 2025 by calling CSUN Donor and Member Services at 818-677-7330.

How can I make recurring donations?
You can sign up to donate to CSUN on a recurring basis at https://engage.csun.edu/.
First gifts from new, recurring donations established between March 3, 2025 and March 6, 2025 will count toward Giving Day.
Employees can set-up a recurring payroll deduction gift by filling out the appropriate University or Auxiliary staff forms here.
Can I make a gift before Giving Day and have it count?
Yes! You can make your gift toward Giving Day on givingday.csun.edu starting on March 3, 2025. The last day to make an eligible gift toward Giving Day on this site is March 6, 2025.
Gifts will only count toward eligible dollar-matches and donor-count-challenges when made to participating programs between March 5, 8:00 AM and March 6, 8:00 PM PST.
If you are unable to give between that timeframe, you are welcome to donate at any time by visiting engage.csun.edu. Please note that gifts received outside of the specific Giving Day timeframe may not be counted toward Giving Day totals.
What if the fund or program I want to donate to is not listed?
You will be able to select "Other" during checkout and type in the fund of your choice. You will first need to select an option in the “Department or Program” drop down, so we suggest choosing the CSUN Brighter Future Fund or a College, Department, or Program. Next, select "Other" in the “Fund Designation” drop down. There will then be a place to type in the fund or program you would like to support.
Who should I contact if I have a question related to my gift?
For Giving Day or general inquiries, contact annualgiving@csun.edu.
I'm a part of an official CSUN student club/org, but my club/org is not listed on the Giving Day website, is my club/org still eligible to participate in the Brighter Future Challenge?
Only the student clubs/orgs that are listed on the "Student Clubs and Greek Life" and the "Associated Students Sports Clubs" pages are eligible to participate in the Brighter Future Challenge. Donors may still give to your club/org during Giving Day by writing in the full name of your club/org on the donation page.
Are gifts tax deductible?
As a recognized charitable organization, gifts to CSUN Foundation may be tax deductible. Please consult with your tax advisor to determine eligibility. A receipt will be automatically emailed to you upon submission of your gift. All funds will be deposited with the CSUN Foundation in support of the CSUN fund you select during the donation process. The California State University, Northridge Foundation is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) public benefit California corporation that serves as an auxiliary organization to California State University, Northridge. Federal Tax ID 95-6196006
Can my donation be anonymous?
Yes, you can make your gift anonymously by simply selecting the box on the giving form.
What if I am experiencing an error on the donation page?
The address you enter on the giving form must match the billing address and zip code associated with your credit card. Enter credit card numbers without spaces. Delete symbols such as # and & (ex: Apt #31). If your gift form still is not working, call 818-677-7330 or email annualgiving@csun.edu for assistance.
Are employer matching gifts accepted?
Yes, but due to processing restrictions, matching gifts may not be counted in the overall dollar total for Giving Day. Matching gifts from the company or organization you work for double the impact of your gift. See if your employer will match your gift by visiting engage.csun.edu/matching_gifts.
Is there a minimum donation amount?
CSUN’s Giving Day accepts gifts of $5 or more.
