Support Student Basic Needs

CSUN utilizes a holistic, student-centered approach to providing students with basic needs support (food, shelter, clothing) and eliminating these barriers to their academic success. Resources and programs that support CSUN students' basic needs will soon be offered in one, central location on campus, at the new Valera NEST. The Valera NEST, officially known as “Nurturing Environment for Students to Thrive,” will open its doors in fall 2025.

Located in a renovated space of the University Student Union (USU), the Valera NEST will house critical programs that enable CSUN students to excel and reach their educational goals.

CSUN is dedicated to empowering students to persist and thrive in their educational journey and realize their goal of graduation. We do this by providing advocacy, guidance, and connection to resources that facilitate food and housing stability.

A donation to the following funds supports the programs within The Valera NEST, and will help ensure that Matador students have the resources and care they need to reach success at CSUN and beyond.
