Reaching for the stars with Earth-based applications: that’s what ARCS is all about.
ARCS – the Autonomy Research Center for STEAHM (Science, Technology & Engineering, Entrepreneurship & Business, Arts, Humanities, and Mathematics) – is a NASA-sponsored, chartered Center of Excellence. We transform the lives of underserved/underrepresented students and faculty, preparing them to become leaders...leaders who bring together multiple disciplines to conduct research with NASA and industry partners in healthcare, waste management & sustainability, human-machine trust, food production, and more.
In our nearly five years, our 1000+ students and faculty from seven colleges have collaborated with external partners on groundbreaking research. Here’s a sample of our current projects:
• A space farming system is being adapted to grow produce with minimal human assistance
• A mobile app which, for the first time, will digitally connect members of the Standing Rock Sioux Nation in North Dakota
• Human-Centered AI is being created and applied for waste management
• Data from multiple smart wearables are consolidated for a comprehensive health picture
• We’re supporting NASA’s Artemis program, landing the first woman and first person of color on the Moon
Our grads become leaders in AI, space & aerospace, healthcare, business, physical/social/life sciences, sustainability, construction, and a host of other fields. We’re so proud of them and their achievements.
And there’s more! We’ve placed 60+ student interns from across CSUN at NASA centers and industry. For every $9000 we raise – combining donations large and small – another student becomes an intern at a prestigious partner (e.g., government space agency and industry). That’s why your contribution matters.
ARCS and our partners have established a new culture of convergence research at CSUN to address real world, societal-pressing problems. Together, we converge, collaborate, innovate, and lead. Join our journey to support research and internships – donate today!
