Office of Student Success

The Office of Student Success facilitates the mission of CSUN by developing, implementing and supporting innovative practices, policies and programming that promote student achievement, eliminate the opportunity gap and encourage timely degree completion. Through improved advising ratios, predictive analytics, early intervention, tutoring and several other high impact practices (HIPs), CSUN is moving the needle on important success indicators that directly benefit students.

  • CSUN Matador Connect
CSUN Matador Connect is a dynamic virtual peer mentoring program at CSUN that establishes meaningful connections between new students and experienced student navigators. The program prioritizes personalized matches based on shared interests, backgrounds and career aspirations, fostering a supportive environment for academic and personal growth. This virtual large-scale initiative not only enhances the campus experience for new students by providing valuable insights and support but also offers student navigators the opportunity to engage on campus, gain volunteer experience and make a meaningful impact.
  • Pathways 2 Excellence
The primary objective of the Pathways to Excellence program is to garner financial support for a specialized summer bridge program tailored to assist underserved first-year freshmen during their transition from high school to college. Our goal is to provide students with essential resources and mentorship, ultimately creating an inclusive and empowering educational environment. By fostering financial contributions and community engagement, we aim to ensure that every underserved student receives the necessary support to thrive academically and socially, empowering them for success throughout their college journey.
  • Academic First Year Experience/Freshmen Celebration
The first Freshman Celebration at CSUN took place in 2006 with participation limited to Freshman Connection students. In 2007, the Celebration was opened to all students enrolled in a fall U100 class. As enrollment has continued to grow, so has the Celebration. Each fall, freshmen taking University 100 are invited to participate in a campus-wide celebration of their first-semester academic achievements. This showcase highlights student group projects related to the eight dimensions of wellness and/or their Community-Based Learning Project.

Learning Resource Center Fund - Gifts to the Learning Resource Center enable students to improve their academic performance through a variety of learning programs including workshops, one-on-one and group tutoring and supplemental instruction classes.
