Consumer Resource Center

How can you be sure you’re spending your money wisely? How do you know whether you’re looking at an honest deal or a con? At CSUN's Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) Consumer Resource Center (CRC) students learn to advocate for consumers and teach others to navigate financial decisions. The Consumer Resource Center is focused on financial literacy and consumer education.

We provide services to students, the CSUN campus and community members so they can learn to make informed financial consumer decisions on everything from day-to-day expenses to major purchases.

Your generous donations will directly support the continued growth and success of our vital programs.

Want a closer look? Our Peer Financial Mentoring Program is one of our key projects. A financial literacy program, it equips students with the knowledge and skills they need to manage their finances effectively. They learn about budgeting, managing debt, understanding credit, debt management and most important—how to save money for long-term success. And through the Peer Mentoring Program, they teach these vital skills to others.

When you give to the Consumer Resource Center, you help us expand our mentor training, develop more engaging educational resources and reach a larger number of students, especially those who are financially vulnerable or who face economic challenges. By supporting the center, you’ll be fostering a culture of financial awareness that will benefit our community for years to come. And, your investment will make a tangible difference in the lives of students, empowering them to achieve financial stability and success.

Funding also supports:

  • Workshops and seminars on financial planning and money management.
  • Development of new evidence-based, credible online resources and tools for enhancing financial literacy.
  • Outreach programs to provide financial education to underserved communities.
  • Expanding student internship opportunities that give students hands-on experience helping others with financial literacy and consumer education.
