Women in Science and Engineering

Putting words into action, Professor Emerita Bonita J. Campbell established an endowment that actively advocates for the participation of women in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics). The Bonita J. Campbell Endowment for Women in Science and Engineering (WISE), emphasizes promoting and encouraging women to participate in insufficiently represented industries. The Campbell WISE endowment also aims to conserve the evolution and contributions of women in the science and engineering disciplines. WISE is open to any and all participants regardless of sex or gender.

The mission of WISE is to encourage women to build careers in the fields of science and engineering; to advance in their careers; to preserve the story of women who have pioneered in the science and engineering disciplines; and to inform leaders and educators about the contribution that women make in these important fields.

The Bonita Campbell Endowment has provided critical support in

  • Developing the Library's collections in Science and Engineering
  • Establishing the Women in Science and Engineering (WISE) study room in UL 222
  • Hosting events that celebrate and promote women's achievements in science and engineering fields
  • Establishing the Bonita J. Campbell WISE Scholarship Endowment
