The Matador Mission Scholarships are CSUN’s bold, data-informed response — an investment in students who have the determination to succeed, but face financial constraints at critical junctures in their academic journey. With one of the highest numbers of Pell Grant recipients in the country (#2 in California, #5 among public institutions nationally), CSUN students demonstrate some of the greatest financial need — and the greatest potential impact from donor support.
Matador Mission Scholarships aim to eliminate the financial strain that so often can stand in the way of a college degree. Based on five years of financial aid data, the Matador Mission Scholarships are designed to deliver essential support when students need it most.
The First-Time Freshmen Scholarship aims to provide an annual scholarship of $4,000 per year that may be renewed up to three years. In doing so, the First-Time Freshmen Scholarship will give new students a strong start, while helping CSUN attract, retain, and empower first-time freshmen to stay enrolled, stay academically engaged, and build early momentum toward graduation.
