Associated Students Children's Center

Since 1973, The AS CSUN Children’s Center has served children and families from CSUN and the surrounding community. The AS Children’s Center is a top-quality early childhood education program offering a safe, nurturing environment to promote young children’s physical, social, emotional, and intellectual growth.

Affordable quality child care is crucial for students with young children. The center opened in 1973, became state-funded in 1976, and expanded in 2001 to a licensed capacity of 136 children. Our priority is providing affordable services for student families to help them achieve their academic and professional goals while their children receive high-quality care.

The CSUN Associated Students Children’s Center offers high-quality, age and developmentally appropriate, and inclusive school readiness services for children aged 18 months to 5 years. Our health, safe, and nurturing environment supports cognitive, physical, social, and emotional development through various activities.

Classrooms are divided into dramatic play, art, writing, library, music, block building, math, discovery/science, and sensory areas. We employ qualified teachers with current CA Department of Education permits, following the age-appropriate teacher-child ratio: 1:4 for toddlers and 1:8 for preschoolers.

Nutritious meals are provided at no cost through the CA Child and Adult Care Food Program. We conduct developmental assessments using a research-based tool and hold parent/teacher conferences with an open-door policy. The center is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children and conducts regular self-evaluations.

Your contribution will assist the center in achieving its objectives of providing a high-quality early childhood education program, creating a safe and nurturing environment, and promoting the physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development of young children.
